Publishing Round up 7/10/15

A new section I’d like to start is to give a bit of information about what’s going on in the publishing world from what I’ve read and thought was most interesting! This will start off as bi-monthly and I’ll see how it goes!

Kindles are being removed from Waterstones Shops


After a lack of Kindle sales last Christmas and a continued decline, Waterstones have decided to remove the Amazon Kindle from their physical stores. Amazon maintain that Kindle Book sales in the UK have increased continually.

Could this be due to the increase in popularity of the physical book?

Jen Campbell, author of The Bookshop Book and Wierd Things Customers Say In Bookshops, is taking on the challenging feat of writing 100 poems in 48 hours. She’s already … poems in and has raised £…!!

A new edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has been commissioned and it’s illustrated! The amazing Jim Kay has created a myriad of Potter themed masterpieces and you can see a variety of them on The Guardian as well as a competition to win a copy!
