Today I thought I’d give you a run down of everything I’m hoping to read this month. Apart from when I go on holiday in a weeks time as I want to do a special Holiday TBR! So this will be the books I hope to read for the other three weeks of the month!
Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld
I’ve not read much of this yet but I was lucky enough to receive a review copy of this book and can’t wait to get sunk in! It’s all about six friends with supernatural powers, the only one given away is Ethan who has a voice inside him that will say anything you want to hear. But this gets him intoa pretty serious situation that kicks off the rest of the novel.
Asking For It By Louise O’Neill
I read Louise’s first book, Only Ever Yours, last month and found her writing to be infectious. So I went straight out and purchased this. I can’t wait to start this book. Asking For It deals with the rape culture and I have the same first name as the protagonist so I think I’ll find a who bucket of empathy coming my way. The bookseller at the Waterstones I purchased it from even told me it was a dousey.
The Help By Kathryn Stockett
My first pick from the Penguin By Hand Collection, The Help is a major motion picture and looks into racism through the voices of African-American maids of the 1960’s from Jackson, Mississippi. I thoroughly enjoyed the film so I have no doubts that the books will be even better.
The Keeper By David Baldacci
This is book two in the Vega Jane series and is a follow up to The Finisher, though I’m told you can read them independently as I’ve not read the first book. I’ll be interested to see how this book live up to expectations. It appears to be a dystopian book, a genre that I’ve always enjoyed to I am optimistic.
So far those are the chosen four this month and then I will do a mini Holiday TBR for Greece next week!
